I don’t necessarily have a solid opinion on any of this at the moment. As someone who was diagnosed years ago with severe clinical depression and an anxiety disorder (and who tried multiple drugs at multiple doses before finding the right one), the consensus of this piece seems to be that the chemicals in my prescription are actually useful to me. Still, this new theory as to why drugs work is totally fascinating to me. And that knee surgery placebo study is just straight-up nuts.
